HLWCF — Our Founding Story

Higher Living With Christ Foundation was born from years of lived experiences, compassion, faith, and a deep desire to serve humanity with dignity and practical support.

The founder, though born and partly raised in North America, later spent part of her early years in West Africa, specifically Nigeria, where she witnessed firsthand the realities of food insecurity and economic disparity. She remembers families and children eating soaked cassava grain with water as a meal, while others survived on plain bread and soda as a daily norm. These experiences left a lasting impact, especially in regions rich in oil, gold, livestock, mineral resources, and wealth, yet where the effects of unequal distribution could still be deeply felt among everyday people.

Through the lens of those memories and a heart for humanitarian work and the work of God, the vision for Higher Living With Christ Foundation began to take shape.

What started as a small self-funded outreach initiative under the name “Higher Living — Feeding the Homeless” soon revealed something even deeper: not every homeless person is hungry, and not everyone who is hungry is homeless. Through direct outreach and personal engagement, it became clear that people’s needs vary. Some declined food but requested blankets, water, hygiene items, or other forms of practical assistance.

This realization expanded the mission beyond feeding alone and inspired a broader humanitarian approach centered on compassion, dignity, and people-first outreach.

The mission gradually grew and later expanded into organized outreach efforts and campaigns in Nigeria 🇳🇬 during 2008–2009, where an NGO was established. At the same time, the outreach efforts never stopped in the West. Georgia has remained home for over two decades and continues to serve as a major foundation for the organization’s outreach and community engagement efforts.

At HLWCF, we strongly believe in serving with dignity and respect. We do not believe in exploiting or exposing the vulnerability of the individuals and families we serve. Protecting the dignity of people remains central to our mission. While some individuals voluntarily choose to share their stories, we believe compassion should never come at the cost of someone’s humanity.

Today, the mission continues to grow through community outreach, food and resource programs, pop-up outreach initiatives, and humanitarian support efforts focused on bringing hope and practical assistance to communities in need.

As the mission expands, HLWCF welcomes volunteers, partnerships, and community support to help reach and serve even more individuals and families as often as possible.
